Help Android app

Build the Android app

About 15 minutes · Updated 23 October 2026

You need

  • JDK 17 or newer
  • Android SDK: platform 37, build-tools 37.0.0
  • Your server's Tailscale address
  • Your NATRO_DEVICE_TOKEN
  • An Android 14+ phone (ARM64)

Point the app at your server

Create android/local.properties:

sdk.dir=C\:\\Users\\you\\AppData\\Local\\Android\\Sdk
natro.server=ws://<server-tailscale-address>:8700
natro.token=<NATRO_DEVICE_TOKEN>

Allow your server’s address

Add it to network_security_config.xml in android/app/src/main/res/xml/.

Build and install

With the phone plugged in and USB debugging on:

android\gradlew.bat -p android assembleDebug
adb install -r android\app\build\outputs\apk\debug\app-debug.apk

Grant only what you use

On first launch, allow the permissions for the features you want. Settings explains each one.

Keep the token private. Anyone with it can talk to your Natro.
